New documentary short film released

In co-operation with Centropa and with support from the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv, our dear partners from NGO «CSMP «Mnemonics» recently published the documentary short film „Doomed: the History of the Rivne Ghetto“ where Jews were forced to live a deprived life before being shot in a stone quarry in July 1942.

We will present the film during our upcoming Trans.History seminar in Odessa and it is already available in Ukrainian with English subtitles (can be switched on in the Youtube player) on the Trans.History webpage.

„Doomed: the History of the Rivne Ghetto“ has already been tested and evaluated in class.

Centropa’s short film “Return to Rivne” now with German subtitles

Our award winning multimedia short film “Return to Rivne: A Holocaust Story” is now available with German subtitles on the Centropa website.

“Return to Rivne” tells the story of Shelly Weiner and Raya Kizhnerman who survived the Holocaust hidden in a hayloft, thanks to Ukrainian farmers. Separated in 1945, one of the Shelly emigrated to America after the war, Raya to Russia. It wasn’t until almost 30 years later that they were reunited. In 2013 they traveled to Rivne together, to revisit their wartime hiding place and to retell their story of survival.
