Application for Lviv seminar now open!

We are happy to announce that application for our international Trans.History seminar on “Civil Society, Social Media and Jewish History in Ukraine in the 20th Century” is now open!
The seminar will take place in Lviv from April 3 – 5, 2018 and, together with our local partners Інститут Суспільних Ініціатив / Society Initiatives Institute, we invite educators, community activists, NGO representatives, and journalists from the Ukraine to apply via the SII website now.

Application deadline is February 25, 2018.
Travel expenses, accommodation and meals are covered.

The seminar is supported by the German Federal Foreign Office.

Youth Competition: submission deadline extended

We already received numerous project submission for our Centropa 2017/2018 international Youth Competition and look through them with great curiosity and exitement!

And we want more of that! Thus we decided to extend the submission deadline!

So you still can submit your projects on the topic of Jewish history or the development of civil society in one of the four categories (Movies, Graphic stories, Photo stories or Societal issues) until February 12, 2018!

Book our Moldovan exhibition now!

On November 16, 2017 Centropa’s new exhibition “The Moldovan Jewish Family Album” was officially opened in Chisinau. It can still be seen at Muzeul Naţional de Etnografie şi Istorie Naturală until December 15.

Award-winning short films of the 2016/17 video competition now available

We are extremely pleased to finally present the winners of the 2016/17 Trans.History Video Competition in our Competitions section!
 
From about a dozen fantastic contributions from schools in Ukraine and Moldova we awarded two short films for each of the categories „Our town’s Jewish history“ and „The importance of Civil Society“.

Interview section updated

We just uploaded another biography to the Trans.History interview section.
In 2004 Centropa interviewed Jewish Holocaust survivor Tamara Koblik in Chisinau – the place of our next Trans.History seminar from November 15 to November 17, 2017.
Tamara Koblik’s biography is available in English and Russian.
 
We have also refurbished the interview’s section and are continuously working on updating and optimizing our Trans.History website.
 
We’ll keep you updated on all actualizations and new features.

Exhibition opening of “The Moldova Jewish Family Album”

We are delighted to announce the official opening of the new Centropa exhibition “The Moldova Jewish Family Album” at Muzeul Naţional de Etnografie şi Istorie Naturală in Chisinau on November 16, 2017.

The exhibition will be inaugurated within the framework of our three-day Trans.History seminar for 50 Moldovan, Ukrainian and German educators on the issue of “Civil Society, Social Media and 20th Century Jewish History in Moldova” in Chisinau from November 15 to November 17.
